"Nun's Priest Tale"
The "Nun's Priest Tale" is about a widow's farm that has a rooster and many hens. The rooster's name is Chanticleer and he has seven hen wives. The hen he loves the most is named Lady Pertelote. Chanticleer has a beautiful singing voice and is always on time to cock-a-doodle-do. One night Chanticleer has a dream that a hound like beast is chasing him and is trying to kill him. He tells Lady Pertelote about it and she says how he is a coward and she cannot love him. She tells him that she will get him herbs to help with his dream. Chanticleer tells Lady Pertelote about all the dreams men have had and how they ignored their dream. All of those stories ended in tragedy. She convinces him to move on and they do. The next month Chanticleer is walking around the yard very proud of himself when a fox comes by and starts stalking him and his wives. The fox confronts Chanticleer and acts as a friend to him. When he tells Chanticleer that he has a beautiful voice and tells him to sing, he takes him by the neck and takes him away. As he runs away, the whole farm is screaming and trying to stop the fox. Chanticleer tricks the fox into talking and gets out of his mouth and goes up a tree. The fox is trying to get the rooster out of the tree by flattery but Chanticleer won't fall for that again.
